The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), on Sunday, November 14, claimed that 100.19% of the eligible residents under BMC’s jurisdiction were vaccinated with the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine.
“Mumbai ranked 1st in Maharashtra, for Covid-19 Vaccinations! Leading the way for a Covid free Maharashtra, Mumbai has administered the 1st dose of Covid-19 vaccine to 100.19% population, way above the state average,” wrote BMC, on Twitter.
As per BMC, 92,39,902 (over 92 lakh) residents in Mumbai received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and 59,83,452 (over 59 lakh) citizens were vaccinated with the second dose.
Nearly 65% of the total eligible residents in Maharashtra's capital city Mumbai, were fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
During the first and second wave of COVID-19, Mumbai was one the worst affected cities in Maharashtra, let alone India.
