A 30-year-old COVID-19 patient, who was admitted at Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in Akola on April 7, allegedly committed suicide on April 11 morning. The man tested positive for coronavirus on April 10 evening.
As per reports, the man slit his throat at 5 am in the bathroom of the isolation ward at the hospital. While he was undergoing surgery, he succumbed to his injuries.
The man, who hailed from Assam’s Nagaon and was a migrant labourer in Akola, was admitted in the hospital after he developed fever and cough. Some media reports claim that the man was a member of Tablighi Jamaat and had attended the Markaz meet at Delhi’s Nizamuddin in March.
