As 51 cured COVID-19 patients tested positive again, South Korea Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) suggested that coronavirus may be getting reactivated in people.
The director general of CDC, Jeong Eun-kyeong, in a media briefing held in South Korea on April 6, said, “Rather than being infected again, the virus may have been reactivated in these people, given they tested positive again, shortly after being released from quarantine.”
“While we are putting more weight on reactivation as the possible cause, we are conducting a comprehensive study on this. There have been many cases when a patient during treatment tested negative one day and positive on another,” he added.
Jeong said that CDC will conduct an epidemiological probe again.
