The anti-narcotics cell of Nagpur Crime Branch, on Monday from Panchpaoli, arrested a 30-year-old woman who was in possession of 659 grams of brown sugar worth Rs 26.87 lakh. The woman has been identified as Chitra Manoj Rahangdale, a resident of Shanti Nagar, Nagpur.
The woman was arrested with the help of a tip-off received by Constable Tulsidas Shukla of the anti-narcotics cell. Acting on the tip-off, the cops did a bandobast near Railway Quarter number 189, Motibagh, in Panchpaoli. It is during the bandobast that Rahangdale, who was riding her Honda Aviator two-wheeler (MH 31/VS/3557), was held. Rahangdale was thoroughly inspected by the female staff of the police, who found the brown sugar in Rahangdale's possession.
Chitra Rahangdale has been booked by the police under section 21 (c) of The Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. She is also being interrogated by the police to ascertain whether somebody else apart from Rahangdale was associated with the crime as well.
