Bengaluru: In a bid to combat COVID-19 and ensure maximum tests are being conducted in the country, Bengaluru based healthcare startup ‘Bione’ has launched India’s first ever at-home testing kit for the detection of COVID-19, which will be available for sale on their platform within a week for the customers.

To use the kit for testing, one must ensure that they cleanse the finger on which they will perform the test using an alcohol swab. After cleaning, prick the same finger using the lancet (a surgical knife used by doctors) that is provided in the kit to extract small quantity of blood for the test. Post five to 10 minutes, the cartridge will display the result of the blood samples. The kit has been priced between Rs 2000 to Rs 3000.

As per reports, founder and CEO of Bione Dr Surendra K. Chikara said, “We are importing this screening kit from one of our partners in the US, which has secured USFDA approval for the product. In India, we have secured certification from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). The screening kit can provide respite from impending fear of the COVID-19 contagion.”

Chikara further claimed that the company is well-equipped to supply 20,000 kits per week and intends to grow in the coming months to cater the demands.
