Gujarat State Health Department, on Saturday, December 4, confirmed that a man who had come into the state from Zimbabwe had tested positive for the ‘Omicron’ variant of COVID-19.
This is the first case of the ‘Omicron’ variant in Gujarat. The patient is currently stationed in Jamnagar.
As of now, there are a total of three cases of the Omicron variant in India- two in Karnataka and one in Gujarat.
However, there were ‘suspects,’ who were admitted to institutional isolation wards after testing COVID-19 positive. The majority of these suspects had come from ‘high-risk’ nations.
