First ‘Children's Chess Festival’ organized by Kalpana Prakash Welfare Foundation in association with GH Raisoni Sports and Cultural Foundation was inaugurated on November 1st, Monday at GH Raisoni Institute of Engineering and Technology (GHRIET) situated at Shraddha Park, MIDC Nagpur.
The tournament was inaugurated by Dr Vivek Kapur (Director, GHRIET), Nishant Gandhi (Corporator) by moving a pawn in front of the king as a beginning of the chess tournament.
With an overwhelming response of over 163 students for the tournament, GHRIET decided to organise a free vaccination drive for parents of all participants.
While the Chief Arbiter of the tournament was IA Pravin Pantawane, under his guidance SNA Sheetal Panbude , SNA Swati Kumbhalkar, Amit Temburne, Prayas Ambade and member of GHRIET Vikrant Chole and Satish Pusdekar worked hard to make the tournament a grand success.
The sixth round would begin at 10 am followed by prize distribution ceremony at 2 pm on Tuesday, November 2.
