Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee, during the inauguration of State government’s music festival - Sangeet Samman on Wednesday evening, was seen dancing on stage along with celebrated Santhal dancer Basanti Hembram.

Later, Mamata took a dig at BJP government saying that she would never allow the saffron party to turn West Bengal into Gujarat.
“Nobody can come close to matching Bengal and would never be able to; no matter how much they try and malign Bengal. I honestly believe that there will be a day again soon when the whole world will salute Bengal. We will never allow Bengal to be turned into Gujarat,” she said.
The music festival was organised at Uttirna auditorium in Alipore, Calcutta. CM Mamata Banerjee also honoured several folk artistes including musicians, singers and dancers, during the event.
“From this dais, we tried giving the message to every section of the society that ‘we are for all.’ Music never divides people, it only unites,” Mamata said in her address.
“Be it Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, Buddhists or Jains; our surnames might be different, our appearances might differ, our complexions might look different; just like the countless musical instruments, but we are all part of one big family, across the world, the family of humanity,” she added.
