Former Maharashtra Cabinet Minister Dr Sunil Deshmukh, on Saturday, October 9, told Nation Next that he was 100% that the Congress party would win the upcoming local body elections in Amravati.
Deshmukh, who on October 8, was appointed as the Vice President of the Maharashtra Congress Committee said he would work tirelessly to make Congress the strongest political party in Maharashtra.
Dr Sunil Deshmukh started his political carrier from the Congress party. He was made a Cabinet Minister (2004-2008) in the state. During this time, he also severed as the Guardian Minister of Amravati.
He briefly joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in 2014 and was elected as an MLA. A couple of months ago, he quit the BJP and had a grand homecoming in Congress.
In an exclusive conversation with Nation Next, Dr Deshmukh said that he along with his party men was prepared to strengthen Congress from the grass-root level.
“Before 2014, Congress was the strongest party in Maharashtra. We are going to bring those glorious days back,” said Deshmukh with sheer confidence.
“BJP corporators are involved in malpractices and corruption. The city of Amravati and the residence are suffering due to their lack of interest in the job. Be it basic duties like sanitation, garbage collection or roads, they have failed the people,” said Deshmukh.
“Under the leadership of our leaders- President Sonia ji and Maharashtra Congress President Nana Patole, who I humbly thank for trusting me with this huge responsibility, we will emerge as the strongest political force in the state,” he concluded.
