Delhi Police, on Monday, cordoned off a major area in Nizamuddin, as several people showed COVID-19 symptoms after they attended a religious gathering held at a mosque in the area a few days ago.
The police said that the gathering, which had around 200 people, was organised without taking any sort of permission from the authorities.
As per reports, 175 people have been tested and 2,000 people have been quarantined after the event. It is being reported that people from Malaysia, Indonesia and Saudi Arabia attended the event at Nizamuddin.
A senior police official said, “After we learnt that such an event was organised, we served notice to them for violating prohibitory orders and restrictions imposed owing to lockdown to contain spread of coronavirus.”
The official added, “Several people have been taken to hospital after they showed symptoms of coronavirus and are being tested.”
