In a shocking incident, after the 69-year-old died because of COVID-19 in Punjab’s Amritsar on Monday, his family refused to claim his body for last rites. The man, who was a retired superintendent engineer at the civic body, was then cremated by the district administration.
As per reports, the 69-year-old man died at a private hospital. When the man’s family was contacted to claim his body, the family did not respond. What’s more shocking is that the family members did not even turn up at the cremation ground, where the man was consigned to flames by the administration. The man’s daughter is said to be pursuing MBBS course.
The man initially had tested negative for COVID-19 at Government Medical College in Amritsar. When his condition worsened, he was shifted to a private hospital, where he tested positive for coronavirus.
