Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, on Thursday, said that people were eagerly waiting for the COVID-19 vaccine, which was the elixir of life amid the global pandemic.
He said the same while virtually addressing people of Delhi on COVID-19 vaccine distribution.
“There are around 51 lakh people including healthcare and frontline workers who would get vaccinated in the first phase.”
“Delhi government is ready to procure COVID-19 vaccine from Centre, store it and then vaccinate the group of people, who are in the top priority list. Healthcare workers followed by frontline workers and then people with pre-conditions will receive two shots of the vaccine,” said Kejriwal.
Assuring the people of Delhi he further stated that Aam Aadmi Party-led Delhi government had the storage capacity for 74 lakh shot and they would double it within a week.
“We will require 1,02, 00,000 (over one crore) shots for the first phase of vaccination; we are prepared for it,” he added.
