In a shocking incident in Rajasthan’s Barmer district, a 34-year-old woman jumped into the burning pyre of her father, who succumbed to COVID-19 on Tuesday. The woman, who suffered 70% burns, was rushed to the government hospital in Barmer immediately in a critical condition. However, she was later referred to Jodhpur after preliminary treatment.
As per the police, 73-year-old Damodardas Sharda died due to COVID-19 at the government hospital in Barmer on Tuesday. As per protocol, Sharda’s body was handed over to his family members for last rites. The youngest daughter Chandra Kala insisted on accompanying the body to the crematorium.
During the last rites, Chandra Kala, who was very disturbed, jumped into the burning pyre. She was somehow pulled out by others present at the spot. An ambulance was called and Chandra Kala was sent to the government hospital.
