Wednesday: In what could be termed as a horrific incident, a 27-year-old Guatemalan woman who was detained near the Mexican-US border gave birth to a baby while standing that too fully clothed in lockdown. The woman, who had developed flu-like symptoms, was near Chula Vista Border Patrol Station near San Diego. According to a complaint filed by the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and Jewish Family Service of San Diego with the US Department of Homeland Security's Office of the Inspector General, the pregnant woman asked for help after complaining of pain but all her requests were reportedly turned down by people present. People around her feared her to be a COVID-19 positive.

The woman during her delivery held on to a garbage can for support as she was standing all throughout; she was repeatedly asked to sit and wait. It was after she delivered the baby with her pants on, her husband heard the cries of the baby and finally saw the baby’s head after the woman removed her pants. Apart from the husband, the couple’s two daughters – aged 2 and 12 – were also present during the delivery.
