In a shocking move, former Uttar Pradesh Shia Waqf Board Chairman Waseem Rizvi, on Monday, December 6, quit Islam and converted to Hinduism.
Rizvi was converted to Hinduism by the head priest of Dasna Devi temple in Ghaziabad. Rizvi's new name after religious conversion would be Jitendra Narayan Singh Tyagi, said the seer.
Hindu organisations like the All India Hindu Mahasabha and others welcomed his decision and said, “We welcome him with open arms. He is a Hindu now. No one should dare to touch him. We urge the state and the Central government to provide him security.”
Waseem Rizvi ( Jitendra Tyagi) had allegedly received threats to life after he filed a PIL in the Supreme Court seeking the removal of some verses from the Quran, which he alleged taught violence. However, his appeal was rejected by the top court.
In addition to this, he had also received threats after he released a book that allegedly portrayed Prophet Muhammad in a negative role.
