The Samyukt Kisan Morcha, which is an umbrella body of several farmer unions leading the farmer's protest, on Saturday, December 4, held a brief meeting at the Singhu border to discuss the future of the agitation against the Centre.
The leaders in the meeting decided that they would continue the protest against the Central government until all cases filed against the protesting farmers were not withdrawn.
Official Spokesperson of the SKM Rakesh Tikait, after the meeting, told media persons that the SKM had formed a five-member committee to talk to the Government of India.
“It'll be the authorised body to talk to the Centre. The committee will have Balbir Singh Rajewal, Shiv Kumar Kakka, Gurnam Singh Charuni, Yudhvir Singh and Ashok Dhawale,” he added.
“Leaders of all farmer organisations said that they won't go back unless cases against farmers are withdrawn. Today a clear cut signal has been sent out to Centre that we're not going to take back the agitation unless all cases against farmers are taken back,” said farmer leader Darshan Pal Singh.
The next meeting of the SKM would be held on December 7.
