Ghaziabad District's Shahidabad Police officials were left speechless on Wednesday, when a mother approached the police station complaining that she had sent her son to buy groceries, but he returned home with his wife.

The groom’s mother, who was in tears complained, “I had sent my son to do grocery shopping, but instead he returned with his wife. I am not ready to accept this marriage.”

The 26-year-old groom, Guddu, informed that that he had gotten married to his bride Savita two months ago at an Arya Samaj Mandir in Haridwar. “We could not arrange a marriage certificate at that time due to lack of witnesses. I had decided to visit Haridwar again for my marriage certificate but failed to do so as the lockdown was imposed,” Guddu said.

Savita was told to leave the rented accommodation in Delhi, where she had previously taken shelter after returning from Haridwar. However, Guddu decided to bring her to his mother’s house.

According to report by ANI, Shahidabad police have requested Savita’s house owner in Delhi to let the couple stay there during the lockdown period as a solution for the family feud.
