Meditrina Hospital situated at Central Bazaar road in Nagpur
The Nagpur Bench of Bombay High Court on Friday rejected the anticipatory bail plea of Meditrina Hospital director Dr Sameer Paltewar. Dr Paltewar was booked by police for fraud earlier this year following a complaint by another director Ganesh Chakkarwar, a renowned tax consultant in the city.
While Dr Paltewar’s bail plea, which was filed on his behalf by Adv Avinash Gupta and Adv Akash Gupta, was rejected, Justice Vinay Joshi, however, extended the interim protection granted to Dr Paltewar on March 17 for three weeks to allow him to approach Supreme Court.
Justice Joshi stated: “The applicant has every right to test the order of this court before the higher forum. However, if in the meanwhile, the applicant is arrested, then ultimately his right to approach to the higher court would be frustrated. In view of this, the interim protection granted by this court vide order date 17.03.2021, is extended for a period of three weeks from today, on same terms and conditions as are set in the said order. Needless to mention, that the said interim protection would cease to operate thereafter.”
While Assistant Public Prosecutor Kalyani Deshpande appeared for the police, Adv Shyam Dewani appeared for the informant Ganesh Chakkarwar.
