Parambir Singh, a 1988 batch IPS officer, who was earlier the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Chandrapur and Bhandara, became the Police Commissioner of Mumbai on Saturday. Singh has also served as the DCP of west zone Mumbai, Additional CP ATS, Thane police commissioner, ADG (Law and order) and DG Anti-Corruption Bureau of Maharashtra.
While Singh is known for his Bollywood connections with prominent actors, not many people know about his Nagpur connect. Singh’s son Rohan is married to Nagpur businessman and politician Sagar Meghe’s daughter Radhika. Sagar is the son of veteran BJP leader Datta Meghe and brother of BJP MLA Sameer Meghe.
In 2019, Singh, who has succeeded Sanjay Barve for the top post, had earlier filed an affidavit in irrigation scam giving a clean chit to Ajit Pawar.
