In a proud moment for all fellow citizens, India achieved the historic landmark of administrating 100-crore COVID-19 vaccine doses on Thursday, October 21.
This target was achieved by India under the ‘National Vaccination Drive’ in months. The drive had begun in mid-January 2021 post-first wave.
India ran the world’s largest vaccination drive with its two made-in-India vaccines- Covishield and Covaxin.
According to a report by the BBC, almost 70% of the eligible adults in India received at least one dose, whereas 27% of the eligible adults were fully vaccinated.
Sharing his happiness over this victory, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter and wrote, “India scripts history. We are witnessing the triumph of Indian science, enterprise and collective spirit of 130 crore Indians.”
“Congrats India on crossing 100 crore vaccinations. Gratitude to our doctors, nurses and all those who worked to achieve this feat,” he added.
