President Ram Nath Kovind, on Saturday, November 20, conferred Indore the cleanest city award for the fifth consecutive year, at Swachh Survekshan Awards 2021.
The ceremony took place at Vigyan Bhawan, Delhi. Surat in Gujarat and Vijaywada in Andhra Pradesh were also awarded for being the country's second and third cleanest cities, respectively.
It is to be noted that these cities were awarded under the category of having population of over one lakh.
Maharashtra too stood out in the crowd at the ceremony by receiving all three awards for clean cities under the category of having population of less than one lakh.
Vita secured the first position followed by Lonavla and Saswad, which secured the second and third positions respectively.
