Hislop College's Centre for Performing Arts recently staged the play - Julius Caesar - at Chitnavis Centre, Nagpur. This play staged by students of Hislop College was based on the play of the same name written by the William Shakespeare in 1599. The play was directed by Hislop College professor Dr Supantha Bhattacharyya who also played the role of Soothsayer in the play.

The play takes you back to Rome in March, 44 B.C when Gaius Julius Caesar became 'Dictator in perpetuity' and the most powerful man in the world. A group of senators led by Caius Cassius watching Caesar's meteoric rise envy him and come to a conclusion that something drastic needs to be done to stop Caesar. But politician and a friend of Caesar's - Marcus Junius Brutus - stands in the senate's way of stopping Caesar. Will Marcus be able to stop Cassius and other members of the senate or he himself has a plan of his own? The story unfolded as the actors did full justice to the play with their performances thereby keeping the audience glued to their seats and keeping the play intriguing till the very end.

While the role of Julius Caesar was played by Harsh Mahatme, Abhijeet Chore and Melwyn Kirath played the roles of Marcus Brutus and Caius Cassius respectively.
