Days after the Palghar attack near Mumbai that got transpired into a political controversy, a man named Raju allegedly killed two saints in a temple at Uttar Pradesh. UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was one of the BJP leaders who had demanded an inquiry after two saints were killed in Maharashtra’s Palghar mob lynching attack few days back. He had even called up Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and urged to take a strict action on the same.
After a similar incident took place in UP, Thackeray gave a call to CM Adityanath. Thackeray tweeted, “Have spoken to Yogi Adityanath over phone and discussed the incident. I told him we are with you against such a heinous crime. Just the way we acted upon and nabbed the accused, I wish you would do the same and avoid giving this a communal angle.”
Raju was said to be berated and accused of theft allegedly killed the two sadhus aged 55 and 35 on Monday night. Raju, who has been arrested and charged with murder, said it (killing) was the will of God. He’d said was under the influence of bhang (cannabis). He went into the temple and murdered the priests.
“The two babas lived here at the temple. One person named Murai alias Raju, who belongs to a scheduled caste, took away a chimta (tongs), for which he was scolded and abused by the priests. After the murder, villagers were looking for him and spotted him drugged with bhang,” a senior police officer, Santosh Kumar Singh was quoted in NDTV.
