Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi, on Saturday, November 20, urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to withdraw all cases against the farmers, who were involved in the year-long agitation over farm laws.
She also mentioned that she wrote to PM Modi asking to provide compensation to the family members of the farmers, who lost their lives during the protest.
Gandhi, a day after PM Modi announced to revoke farm laws, held a press conference in Lucknow and called out PM Modi, who will be visiting the city today.
“PM Modi should not attend the DGP and IG conference in Lucknow. I have written to him on the same. If he is genuinely concerned about farmers, he should not share the dais with MoS Home Ajay Mishra whose son is an accused in the Lakhimpur Kheri case,” she said.
“I have written to PM Modi that the person, who mowed down farmers in Lakhimpur Kheri, is the son of MoS and due to political pressure, the UP government had tried suppressing justice. The family wants justice, and if he (MoS) continues on the post, justice can't be served,” she opined.
