The spiritual leader of Tibet Dalai Lama while apologising over his recent remark on the partition issue said that there are more Muslims in Indian than in Pakistan. Explaining that his intentions were not to create controversy, the 83-year-old spiritual leader on Friday said, “When I heard that Gandhiji was against the partition, I felt pity. There are more Muslims in India than in Pakistan. But past is past.”
For the uninitiated, Dalai Lama on Wednesday at an event in Goa had said, “Mahatma Gandhi wanted Jinnah to be the PM. But Nehru was self-centered and wanted to be the PM. If things had gone as per Mahatma Gandhi, India and Pakistan would have remained united. So Pandit Nehru, I know very well, (was) very experienced person, very wise but sometimes mistake also happens.”
