Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, on Tuesday, while virtually speaking at the Colaba Conversations, said that the slum area of Mumbai or famously known as Dharavi, was the torchbearer of discipline during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Even being a slum area, Dharavi reported fewer cases than the urbanised localities of Mumbai. Their tracing- testing method was praised across the country and became a model to learn from.
Speaking on the COVID-19 vaccine, CM Thackeray said, “COVID-19 paused our lives for a while. Now we have the vaccine but there is no medicine yet. Washing hands, wearing masks and maintaining social distance are the only options to stay safe from this virus.
“COVID taught the importance of oxygen. We are killing the environment for our greed. We must take ‘green initiatives’ to save our planet,” he urged.
