Underworld don Arun Gawli, who’s currently lodged at Nagpur Central Jail, approached the Nagpur Bench of Bombay High Court on Thursday seeking parole citing his wife Asha Gawli’s surgery.
65-year-old Gawli had earlier applied for parole on March 3 to the Divisional Commissioner, who rejected his application. Gawli then, through his lawyer Mir Nagman Ali, approached the HC.
The division bench comprising Justice ZA Haq and Justice Amit Borkar issued a notice and sought responses from the Divisional Commissioner and Nagpur Central Jail Superintendent before April 9, which is the next date of hearing.
Gawli is serving life imprisonment in Nagpur Central Jail for the murder of Shiv Sena corporator Kamlakar Jamsandekar in 2007.
