In a shocking incident, five persons beat a 67-year-old man and his brother on June 4 at Hanuman Nagar in Nagpur over a petty issue. Ajni Police have now booked the five men, who have been identified as Manish Anand Trivedi (43), Abhishek Manish Trivedi (19), Abhijeet Trivedi (20), Indrajeet Jasbirsingh Saini (41), all residents of Hanuman Nagar, and Harshvardhan Mahesh Shahu, a resident of Chandan Nagar.

As per the police, the senior citizen Ravindra Shankarrao Bhajanghate, a resident of Hanuman Nagar, was bitten by his neighbour Manish Trivedi's dog. After the incident, Bhajanghate lodged a complaints with the police and the NMC.

When Trivedi got to know of complaints, he threatened Bhajanghate to withdraw the complaints. When Bhajanghate refused, an argument ensued between him and the accused on June 4 evening. During the argument, the accused started punching Bhajanghate and beating him with sticks. When Bhajanghate's brother Sunil tried to rescue him, he was also thrashed by the accused.

Based on Bhajanghate's complaint, the accused have been booked under sections 143, 144, 147, 148, 149, 323, 326 and 504 of the IPC, and section 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act.
