Union minister Nitin Gadkari and Bollywood actor Shekhar Suman graced the book launch of Nagpur’s eminent industrialist and chairman of Jayaswal NECO Group of Industries Basant Lall Shaw. The book titled ‘Mera Jeevan Pravah’ is an autobiography of the steel magnate Shaw, which chronicles around his early experiences, trials and tribulations in life.
Gadkari launched the book on Sunday evening at Hotel Radisson Blu in the presence of family members and close friends. Shaw in his autobiography narrated some interesting incidents that occurred during World War II, regime change of British Government to Indian Government, etc.
Gadkari said, “People are eager to help or fund politicians who are in power but Jayaswalji helped me when he himself was facing a cash crunch. He gave me money to fight elections; it pained me.”
Born in pre-independent India, Shaw (88), also spoke the time during 1940s when government decided to ban currency notes to bring down the inflation.
Basant Lall Shaw in 1976 commenced his business of manufacturing iron pipes and fittings at Nagpur. After earning some revenue, he also established his second unit at Bhilai in Madhya Pradesh in 1987. With further increase in demand in iron pipes, the third unit was established in 1991.Check out some of the photos of the event below:
