In a span of seven months – September 4, 2020 to April 3, 2021 – Nagpur Police along with Nuisance Detection Squad (NDS) of the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) collected a fine of ₹ 1,68,86,000 from residents across the city for not wearing face mask.
On Saturday, April 3, as many as 50 people were fined a total of ₹25,000 for not wearing mask in public places amid COVID-19 pandemic.
Earlier, the fine for not wearing a mask in the city was Rs 200, which on September 13 was increased to Rs 500.
Details of total cases and fines collected in seven months are as under:
5470 (residents) x ₹ 200 fine = ₹ 10,94,000.
31584 (residents) x ₹ 500 fine = ₹ 1,57,92,000.
Total – 37054 (residents) = ₹ 1,68,86,000.
