Vedika Pal, one of the budding chess wizards in making, emerged champion in the State School Online Chess Championship organised by Maharashtra Chess Association.

Vedika won the tittle in Under-9 category and scored seven out of nine points.

Vedika defeated contestants Ananya Todur, Swaranjali Thwawali, Maitreyi Bera, Ria Sanghavi, Hiranmayee Kulkarni, Chaturthi Pardeshi, and Khanak Paharia.



Apart from this, Vedika also won UDC Cup – Lesunathan Memorial Chess Tournament 2021 –recently. Vedika lost two games to Pari Chavan of Mehkar district and Mysha Perwez from Mumbai.

However, in the final standing, both the players were removed from the tournament for foul play.

Paridhi Gandhi from Buldhana district and Swaranjali Thawali from Nagpur missed the spot by merely one point.

In Under-7 category, five-year-old Swara Gandhi from Nagpur missed her chance for nationals by marginal one point.

The championship also witnessed participation of contestants – Lakshita Swami, Shravya Kamble, Rudra Thawali and Yesha Mohunta – all from Nagpur-based Vidarbha Chess Academy.

Moreover, Manasvi Gandhi from New York, a student from Vidarbha Chess Academy, bagged the first spot in the Under-500 Category Kings and Queen Tournament.
