Senior Congress leader and former BJP MP from Bhandara-Gondia constituency (Maharashtra) Nana Patole submitted his resignation to the Congress party from the post of All India Kisan Congress President. However, Nation Next's attempts of getting in touch with Patole went unsuccessful.
It has been said that Patole, who would be arriving in Nagpur tomorrow, quit from the post by owning the responsibility of Congress' debacle in Lok Sabha elections this year.Patole, who joined Congress in 2018 lost to Union Minister Nitin Gadkari in the recent Lok Sabha elections by a margin of over 2 lakh votes from Nagpur. Patole quit the BJP in December 2017 after accusing PM Narendra Modi of turning a blind eye towards farmers’ apathy in Vidarbha.

Subsequently, he resigned as Member of Parliament from Lok Sabha in 2017. After he joined the BJP in 2014, he defeated NCP heavyweight Praful Patel by a margin of 1,50,000 votes.
Patole had previously quit the Congress party citing to negligence of Vidarbha farmers and contested the 2009 Lok Sabha elections as an independent candidate.
