Nagpur Municipal Corporations’ only independent Corporator Abha Pande, on Sunday, in a mega event at Nagpur, joined the Nationalist Congress Party in the presence of senior party leaders.
Upon her induction, Maharashtra Deputy CM and NCP’s senior leader Ajit Pawar said that more than NMC, Pande was needed in Vidhan Sabha.
Ahead of the NMC elections, Pande’s sudden move to join the NCP left everyone wondering about her future plans. Pande was a Congresswoman in the past but she left the party as they denied her a ticket to contest Assembly elections.
In a grand ceremony with a huge crowd, Pande was inducted in NCP in the presence of her supporters and NCP’s top leadership. Ajit Pawar congratulated Pande and said, “After listening to your speech, I think that you are needed in Vidhan Sabha to represent Nagpur and NCP. Even being an independent corporator, Pande has a huge number of supporters, who are present here today.”
In her address, Pande said, “NCP Supremo Sharad Pawar Ji inspired me to join the party. I’m happy and honoured at the same time. I’m sure that NCP’s leadership will support me in the way.”
If a few sources were to be believed, Pande might hold a key position in NCP’s decision making regarding Nagpur. “We are trying to unite leaders in central Vidarbha. Now you have leaders, who will look after you. I request Nagpurkars to support NCP and we will for sure try our best to serve you,” Pawar added.
