Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh on Wednesday said that none of the 101 people arrested in connection with Palghar mob lynching case is a Muslim.

Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh, on Wednesday, during a Facebook live session said that none of the 101 people arrested in connection with Palghar mob lynching case was a Muslim. Deshmukh shared the list of the arrested accused on Twitter. Home Minister also accused the opposition of playing communal politics over the incident.

Deshmukh said during the live session, “It is unfortunate that communal politics is being played over the incident. It is not the time to play politics but we have to fight the coronavirus, collectively.”

Commenting on the incident, Deshmukh wrote on Twitter, “Palghar mob lynching incident is a grotesque incident, which happened due to rumours on social media child kidnappers and thieves prowling in the area. A high level enquiry is going on and meanwhile people are requested not to fall for rumours and verify the facts from trusted sources.”

Meanwhile, Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of Maharashtra Police took over the mob lynching case on Wednesday.
