In a move to get its employees vaccinated at the earliest, the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) decided to hold the salaries of its workers, who did not take the COVID-19 vaccine.
After taking a number of efforts, it was found that many of the NMC employees did not take the lifesaving COVID-19 vaccine.
As a result, the NMC decided to not pay salaries to the employees, who did not get vaccinated against COVID-19 with the first or the second dose.
NMC Additional Commissioner Ram Joshi, on Thursday, November 25, candidly spoke to Nation Next about this decision.
He said, “We are doing this for the last month. After some time, Collector madam also initiated it in the district office.”
“Yes, few employees were held accountable for not getting vaccinated and their salaries were stopped. However, their pay was released after getting their jabs,” said Joshi when asked about the impact of the decision.
