A Biman Bangladesh Boeing aircraft, which was going from Muscat to Dhaka made an emergency landing at Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport in Nagpur on Friday after the pilot Captain Naushad suffered a heart attack mid-air.
The aircraft that had 126 passengers on board made an emergency landing at 11:40 am when it was near Raipur.
Sources at Airports Authority of India (AAI) said the Kolkata ATC was contacted, which asked the flight to make a medical emergency landing at Nagpur airport.
“The flight was flying over Chattisgarh when the incident took place. The flight made a safe landing at around 11:37am, after which the pilot was rushed to a nearby hospital,” said an AAI official.
Post landing, Naushad, who was admitted to a local hospital is stable and out of danger.
