With an intention to discourage large gatherings at railway stations amid the coronavirus scare, platform ticket fare has been increased by five times at as many as 250 railway stations across the country.

Central Railways informed through a tweet that fares have been increased in five central divisions namely Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, Bhusawal and Solapur. The hike will be carried on till further notice from CR.

Along with Central Railways, Western Railways, too, have increased the platform tickets fare at divisions namely Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Bhavnagar, Ratlam, Vadodra and Mumbai. In the Southern Railway zone only platform tickt fare in Chennai has been hiked.
