Tension gripped Dhar city on October 19 when Madhya Pradesh police used lathis to disperse people for allegedly violating guidelines and deviating from the permitted route during a procession on the occasion of Eid Milad-un-Nabi, the birthday of Prophet Muhammad.
Some people in the procession reportedly broke the police barricades and tried to divert the route of procession through the area, which was prohibited for the procession. They then got into scuffle with police personnel, forcing police to use lathi-charge to disperse them.
Videos, which have surfaced online, show police resorting to lathi-charge to disperse the mob.
