Addressing a public meeting in Puducherry on Sunday, Bharatiya Janata Party National President Jagat Prakash Nadda took a dig at Congress and Puducherry Chief Minister V Narayanswamy saying that when the former was Union Minister, he waived off loans worth Rs 5,000 crores for Jharkhand.
However, he didn’t do the same for Puducherry, Nadda said.
“For the last 35 years of Congress rule, 52% of the population has been living below the poverty line. During Vajpayee's time, Puducherry was given 70% grant-in-aid. When V Narayanaswamy, who is CM now, became Union Minister, it was reduced to 30%.”
“When V Narayanaswamy was a minister in Government of India, he waived off the loan of Rs 5,000 crores of Jharkhand but he didn't waive off the loan of Puducherry and now he is CM. This kind of justice he did with Puducherry,” JP Nadda said.
“Your enthusiasm gives me a clear indication that you are going to make it 23 plus (seats in the Assembly). You will see that development will take place and Puducherry will be corruption free. Puducherry will change and Kamalam will blossom,” he added.
The BJP President also assured Puducherry citizens that best healthcare facilities would be provided to them under Ayushman Bharat, and an IT park would give employment to the youth.
“The Industrial Park will be given priority. We will conduct the local body elections after we form the government,” he said.
