After Congress President Rahul Gandhi confirmed his presence at the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting on October 2 at Sevagram, in Wardha district, excitement was palpable across files and ranks of Nagpur Congress. The agenda of the meeting has not been declared till yet but the undertone of the meeting is of course going to be to decide upon the strategy of the 2019 elections.
October 2 being Gandhi Jayanti, Rahul Gandhi is also supposed to attend a prayer meeting in the remembrance of Mahatma Gandhi in Sevagram before attending the CWC meeting.
When asked about the agenda of the CWC meeting, Congress leader from Nagpur Abhijit Wanjarri told Nation Next that the leaders here are yet to receive any agenda. “Usually, the agenda of the CWC meeting is released a couple of days before the meeting day, but it's a good news for the local party leaders here. The CWC is the biggest decision making body in the party, and a meeting being held here months before we go into the state and general elections will surely give a good platform to the local party leaders and workers to get into the sync with the party's agenda of the elections,” said Wanjarri.
Former Rajasthan Chief Minister and CWC member Ashok Gehlot visited Sevagram on Monday to oversee the preparations of CWC meeting. Senior congress leaders of Nagpur Vilas Muttemwar, Vikas Thakre, Vishal Muttemwar, Abhijit Wanjarri, etc., at the Nagpur airport welcomed Gehlot, who’s also the general secretary of All India Congress Committee (AICC).
