At the virtual inauguration of toy hackathon named ‘ToyCathon 2021,’ Union Textile Minister Smriti Irani said that for the first time in Indian history, school students would participate, with regards to the needs of the Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME) industry in the country. 
“For the first time in the history of our country, we shall see participation of school students along with students from higher educational institutions, with regards to needs of the MSME industry in our country,” Irani said during the toy hackathon, which was inaugurated by Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank.
“Needs that stem from innovation, needs that stand from new design concepts, needs that complement the cultural ethos, in which the Indian toy industry hopes to be steeped in,” she said. 
“Never before has been the fascination of the country ever been captured till such time that the honourable Prime Minister Shree Narendra Modi pronounced to the entire country the need to ensure that we support local industry with regards to toy manufacturing.”
“I am today, on behalf of my senior colleague Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishankji, expressing our thanks to those industry participants who have responded to the clarion call of honourable PM and supported ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ with regards to this segment of toy manufacturing,” she added.
