Senior Telugu actor Chalapathi Rao booked by Hyderabad Police for allegedly passing sexist remarks about women. A case has been registered against him at Saroornagar Police Station when a women’s organisation filed a complaint against him.
Rao, during an audio launch of Nagarjuna’s son Naga Chaitanya’s upcoming film, said that women are only fit to be good partners in bed. He had made the comments when an anchor during the programme sought his opinion whether girls are a disturbance to mental peace, (which is the tagline of the movie). Rao responded by saying, “What can I say if you ask like that? Women aren’t a disturbance to peace. But, are useful to sleep with.”
Rao faced a huge backlash on social media after he made those derogatory comments. Rao, while speaking to a TV channel, rendered an apology by saying that he has immense respect for women.
However actor Nagarjuna's comments came only after Rao's comments revoked a negative reaction from women's organisation. “I always respect women personally and in my films. I definitely do not agree with Chalapathi Rao’s derogatory comments. Dinosaurs do not exist!!,” Nagarjuna tweeted on Tuesday.
