Indian-American web television series based on a fictional T20 cricket theme Inside Edge on Thursday was nominated in the Drama category of the 46th International Emmy Awards on Thursday. The series, created by Karan Anshuman, features Bollywood actors Vivek Oberoi, Richa Chadha, Angad Bedi, Tanuj Virwani, etc. Inside Edge, which happens to be Amazon’s first Indian series, has been nominated along with Netflix’s Spanish-language drama La Casa de Papel (Money Heist), Brazil-produced One Against All, and Urban Myths.

Produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani’s banner Excel Media and Entertainment Private Limited, Inside Edge premiered on Amazon in July 2017. The award show would take place in New York on November 19.

“Proud to share that our first association with Amazon Studios, INSIDE EDGE gets nominated at the International Emmy Awards,” Sidhwani tweeted.

Vivek on Twitter wrote, “This is incredible!! Humbled and ecstatic at the same time. Kudos to team #InsideEdge. Thank you so much everyone for the love, we will definitely blow your mind away in #Season2.”

When Nation Next asked Vivek how he felt about the nomination, he said, “It’s an amazing feeling and what an incredible timing! As we’re all here shooting in Tbilisi, Georgia, for season 2, we get this awesome news. The entire Inside Edge family is celebrating tonight!”

Speaking about what worked in the team’s favour, Vivek said, “I think the creator Karan Anshuman and producers Ritesh and Farhan have created a show of international quality and the concept is appealing whether you understand cricket or not. That’s what has worked I guess. All of us have put in our best and are so happy to receive this honour.”

When asked whether we would truly be able to create world class content now or is it too soon to be satisfied, he quipped, “I think this nomination answers that question. For all those who thought India couldn’t create content of an international standard, this is the answer!”
