In one of the recent re-runs of Aap Ki Adalat during COVID-19 lockdown, actor Govinda confessed he had once recited Gayatri Mantra 24 lakh times at the age of 14 to become an actor. The actor who delivered super hit movies like Haseena Maan Jayegi, Hero No. 1, to name a few, said, “It was because of my mother's advice and blessings. I never looked like a hero at that time.” The actor said he had various anxiety issues so to beat that as well, he would chant the mantra for three hours a day.
TOI quoted Govinda by saying, “My mother had once got hurt in 1993 and from then on only, I started doing Mahamrityunjaya Jaap for her and did them 60 lakh times. I was in Paris shooting Hero No. 1 and was at the peak of my career, but while shooting, I started crying on the streets. Some foreigners came and asked me why I was crying and I said, ‘My mom is not well.’ I knew she was going to die and the next day, I lost her. I cried so much that I tore 36 tissues of my chest and stomach and had to be hospitalised.”
